Over the past year, we have had to change the way we do business and while the centre is closed our classes continue online. In the centre, we have made several significant changes to ease the transition back into classes safer for our staff and clients.
We have installed automatic hand sanitiser stations throughout the centre, including on the wall on the way in, one at the top of the stairs and outside each classroom. We have replaced the handwash in the toilet with an automatic dispenser. Make sure to utilize these at every opportunity while you are in the centre.
New guidelines are in place for how people enter the building, access the classrooms and a new seating plan. Learners will now sit 6-ft apart unless they are in a bubble or the same household. In our computer room, we have installed plastic screens between computers.
At the moment we can only have limited numbers of clients in the building. If you are unsure as to whether you should be in class please talk to your tutor.
Face masks should be worn at all times upon entering the building, in the corridors and kitchen and when leaving the centre. You can remove your mask once seated in the classroom if you feel comfortable. Our tutors will be wearing face visors and/or masks throughout the sessions. If you are exempt from wearing a face mask, please make sure your class tutor is aware before you attend your class.
We have several different courses still ongoing including:
- The Wigan Skills and Learning Functional Skills classes have moved online.
- A new virtual Community English Zoom class.
- There are currently no plans to move our basic digital courses onto Zoom but we can offer one to one advice on an ad-hoc basis.
- We have several CPD certified courses available for purchase.
We are scheduled to reopen the centre on 01/03/2021 to the Community English and Essential Digital Skills cohorts. This date is based upon current government guidance could change.
